As the world’s one of the best trekking region, the Annapurna region offers unparalleled mountain scenery. The region is famous for its spectacular view, beautiful landscape and the unique traditional culture and lifestyle of the local Gurungs. The trail passes through an ever-changing landscape ranging from paddy fields, misty forests, and tiny settlements to alpine forests and high lands. The Annapurna range has a vast massif of a number of peaks above 7,000m. Some parts of the range form a natural aphis-theatre, which is popularly known as the Annapurna Sanctuary. Mt. Annapurna I, Glacier Dome, Gangapurna, Fang and Machhapuchere (fishtail mountain) are some of the major attractions in the Annapurna region. The trekking trail passes through mind-boggling rhododendron and bamboo forests. All is found while going up to the famous Fishtail Mountain Base Camp. Trekkers and adventure lovers can use same trail till Chhomrong downstream (the Modi Khola) before making a sojourn to Ghandrung, a beautiful and large Gurung village.
Itinerary :
Day 01:
Drive/Fly from Kathmandu (1,320m) to Pokhara (833m.)
Today we fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara and stay in hotel at Lakeside. (7 hours drive by bus or 30 minutes flight)
Day 02:
Drive from Pokhara to Phedi (850m)
(from where trekking starts) and trek to Dhampus (1,600 m.) and overnight at teahouse.
Day 03:
Trekking from Dhampus to Landurk (1,565m)
The trail gradually goes up from Dhampus (1,650) to Deurali (2,100m). After then, we will walk through rain forest jungle heading down to Landruk 5 hours walk and overnight stay at teahouse (1700m).
Day 04:
Trekking from Landruk to Chomrong (2,170m)
Heading down to the Modi River. The trail follows the Modi river banks till Jhinu Danda and passes through local villages and forests. After Jhinu Danda, the trail goes straight up approximately one hour walk. Chomrong is one of the best places for the mountain views (Annapurna south, Hiuchuli, Fishtail, etc.) and beautiful rural scene. Overnight stay at teahouse (2,170m).
Day 05:
Trekking from Chomrong to Dovan (2,505m.)
From the lower part of the village, you descent to the suspension bridge over the Chomro Khola (river) and climb steeply at first, passing through Tilche, Bhanuwa, Sherpa Lodge. A little further up are the scattered lodges of Sinuwa, a perfect place to stop and admire the view back down the Modi Khola. From where a panoramic view of Mt. Fishtail can be seen. The trail also changes in character from wide stone steps and mixed rhododendron forest which sets the valley ablaze with color during April.
Day 06:
Trekking from Dovan to Deurali (3,230m.)
During the trek, along this trail, we do not find any permanent settlement. The trail passes through solitary places and one can really feel the Nature’s wilderness. If you walk without making any noise, you are likely to have the chances to see a variety of species of wildlife such as wild pig, deer, snow leopard, etc. After walking 4 hours, we can reach Deurali from Dovan and stay in local lodge.
Day 07:
Trekking from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m.)
As this route is in the high altitude area, you might feel the shortage of oxygen, so, you are advised to walk slowly. However, you can feel that you are very close to the Nature. The scene of waterfalls and close mountain view may make your trek enjoyable. After walking along the trail for about three hours, you can reach ABC and stay in a local lodge.
Day 08:
Trekking back to Dovan from ABC (2,505m.)
Wake up early in the morning to see beautiful sunrise and mountain views. After having breakfast, we go back to Dovan and stay at a local teahouse.
Day 09:
Trekking from Dovan to Chomrong (2,170m.) After having lunch at Dovan, we trek to Chomrong and stay in a lodge.
Day 10:
Trekking from Chomrung to Ghandruk (1,939m.)
The trail goes straight and a little bit down hill. Then, we cross the Kimrung Khola and gradually go up. Then comes a very nice tiny village. After about one hour’s walk, we arrive to famous and beautiful Ghandruk village which is culturally and naturally rich Gurung settlement and also listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage Site. Cultural show in the evening.
Day 11:
Trekking from Ghandruk to Birethanti (1,050m.)
Walk through a paddy field and local settlement. After 4 hours of walk, you will come to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara, overnight stay in hotel.
Day 12:
Pokhara to Kathmandu (1320)
It is our day to explore this lively and exotic city. Our guide will take us to visit the World Heritage Sites of the valley and some other historically and culturally important places of the valley. In the evening, a farewell dinner would be served at Bhojan Griha, the delights of Nepali cuisine.
Bhojan Griha is one of the exclusive Nepali restaurants in the valley which serves the very best of traditional, organic and ethnic cuisine of Nepal. The grand old building which was built almost 150 years ago has been renovated and converted into a fascinating restaurant with intricate décor, subtle setting and nostalgic atmosphere. Traditional folk music and dances are performed in full costume every evening over savory meals. No doubt, to dine at Bhojan Griha is a cultural rejuvenation.
