Help Vulnerable Children of Nepal

As a responsible business organisation, Agile Adventure Treks & Expedition (P) Ltd. is well aware of its social duties and responsibilities. The company is committed to contributing five percent of its total annual profit to Kids Shangrila Home that has given new lease of life to many needy and vulnerable children. So, trek with Agile Adventure and help the helpless children!

Located at Arubri of Kathmandu, the shelter home has really become a home to many orphans and vulnerable children from various parts of the conflict-hit Nepal. Being run with the financial support from some Belgian philanthropists, the home is helping more than 100 children. Each year, several volunteers from Belgium and The Netherlands visit Nepal to The home receives children only through the organisations dedicated to the welfare of children.

The organisation has been running a permanent care home where a total of 68 children are staying at present. The children include those who are from nursery classes to Bachelor’s level. It is also conducting the Youth Rehabilitation Programme (YRP). Apart from these, the organisation has been operating a rehabilitation centre near the Gokarna Wildlife Reserve in Kathmandu. The children get pottery training and non-formal education and basic computer classes.

As somebody who has dedicated his life to the welfare of the underprivileged and vulnerable children in Nepal, Belgian volunteer, Mr. Wim De Becker has been looking after Kids Shangrila Home for the last several years.

In 1995, the home was originally founded as Riou Academy Nepal by a Belgian volunteer, Ms. Inge Bracke. In the initial stage, the home had 11 children from the disadvantaged communities and families. In 2004, the care home was renamed as Kids Shangrila Home. All the children, who were under the care of Rio Academy Nepal, had been transferred to the new organisation. visit website: http://www.shangrilahome.be
