Limbu Cultural Trail Trek

Limbu Cultural Trail is a newly developed trekking trail in the north-east part of Nepal. The new trail between Kabeli and Khaksewa rivers offers an in-depth experience of the culture, tradition and lifestyle of the Limbu people who are dominant in this region. The trail starts from Phungling and passes through Suketar, Lalikharka, Kande Bhanjyang, Simbu, Phungphung, Phumpe and Mamankhe. The Limbu Cultural Trail ends in Mamanke which is dominated by Limbu (Mabo) population. One can also join the Kanchenjunga trail from this typical Limbu village.

The trail is rich in cardamom farms, diverse flora and fauna, and untouched natural landscapes. Cultural dances like Dhaan Naach, Chyabrung Naach, and Bijuwa Naach are performed by the local community to welcome the visitors. Visitors can enjoy local food with the local people that would provide an opportunity to discover the area and the people. Besides, enjoying the local Tongba (alcoholic beverage) and Sukuti (dry meat), participating with the regular activities of the local people, and hiking along unrefined trails crossing ridge and gully offers unique experiences of Himalayan Culture.


 Itinerary :
Day 01:
Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m)
Arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Upon arrival the guests would be received by our representatives and transfer to hotel.
Day 02:
Kathmandu
Full day sightseeing in Kathmandu.
Day 03:
Kathmandu – Suketar (2,420m)
We take early flight from Kathmandu to Suketar. It takes about one hour to reach Suketar from Kathmandu to Suketar by aeroplane. Upon arrival, we would be welcomed by the local community and transfer to one of the best teahouses of the area. In the afternoon, we go on sightseeing around the local community and experience local culture. Overnight in the teahouse.
Day 04:
Suketar – Lalikharka (Phawakhola)
Having lunch at Suketar, we commence our trek to Lalikharka. It takes about four hours normal walk to reach Lalikharka. The trail moves through the thick forests. Overnight in a teahouse.
Day 05:
Lalikharka – Kande Bhanjiyang (2,129m)
It is our turn to visit Kande Bhanjiyang from Lalikharka. Today also the trail moves through the forests. There is home-stay facility at Kande Bhanjiyang. The home-stay offers direct contact with the local people and we share the food with the family members where we stay.
Day 06:
Kande Bhanjiyang – Phumphe (1,858m)
We trek to Phumphe from Kande Bhanjiyang. It takes about seven hours to reach Phumpa from Kande Bhanjiyang. We take lunch at Phungphung Danda. We trek along River Kabeli and enjoy the scenic and stunning view of mountains. The home-stay facility is also available at Phumphe.
Day 07:
Phumphe- Mamankhe (1,645m)
It is the last day of our trek. We trek from Phumpe to mamnakhe which takes about 3 hours normal walk. The trek offers an opportunity to observe cardamom gardens. We take lunch at Mamankhe. In the evening, the local people will perform a cultural program to give farewell to us.
Day 08:
Mamankhe – Suketar – Kathmandu
From Mamankhe we go to Suketar air port . From the airport, we take our flight to Kathmandu or we fly to Biratnagar and then fly to Kathmandu. Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, we would be transferred to our hotel. Half day sightseeing around the valley. In the evening we would be served farewell dinner.
Day 09:
Back home destination.
