Namobuddha Holy Trek
Namobuddha is situated between Banepa and Panauti. It is a famous Buddhist pilgrimage site. We would see rows of Buddhist stupas adorned with fluttering prayer flags which would soothe tired trekkers and pilgrimage. Image of the Lord Buddha in the monastery attract tourists to visit this place. The inscription in stones portrays a popular legend that relates that the Lord Buddha in his previous incarnation had offered his own flesh to save a starving tigress and her cubs from death.
The package is specially designed for the senior citizens or those who do not prefer to involve long or strenuous walks.
When we talk of Nepal, she is not only a trekker’s paradise, but also a suitable haven for those who love bird watching. Having blessed with a vast array of exceptionally rich bird life, Nepal is reported to be home to more than 848 various species birds. With varied topographical and climatic conditions, the country is very rich in biodiversity. Nepal’s topography is diverse that it has lowland dense tropical forests to highland rhododendron and oak forests. An estimated 8% of the world’s birds are found in Nepal. Among them, 500 species of birds can be seen in and around the Kathmandu Valley alone. Phulchoki, Godavari, Nagarjun, Shivapuri, Sundarijal, Gokarna Wildlife Reserve, the Bagmati River and Taudaha are some of the major places for bird watching in Kathmandu.
As mentioned above, the Kathmandu Valley is also a good place for bird watching. With over 500 species of birds, the capital valley’s surrounding hills offer a varied ecology ranging from primary and secondary forests to rhododendron, oak and pine forests. Moreover, the wetlands and open fields inside the valley make up a diverse habitat for many species of birds.
Some 265 species of birds are recorded in the scenic Phulchoki hill alone. Lying at an elevation of about 2,800 metres above sea level, this is the highest peak on the Valley rim. Situated just 20 kilometres southeast of Kathmandu, the hill is home to a number of species of birds such as Babblers & relatives, Warblers, Tits & nuthatches, Thrushes, Wood shrikes & minivets, Woodpeckers, Eagles and many migrant birds. Godavari is the foot of Phulchoki hill, where the Botanical Garden is situated. The Garden alone has over 100 species of birds including the lesser racket-tailed drongo, Tibetan siskin and the spotted fork tail.
Itinerary :
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1320m.)
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be received by our representatives and will be transferred to hotel. After checking into our rooms, we could relax at our own.
Day 02: Kathmandu
It is the day of our preparation for the trek. All the documentation, buying of trekking gears, etc. will be done today. The remaining time will be utilized for sightseeing around the Kathmandu valley. Dinner is at a local restaurant.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Namobuddha (1,800m.)
We take early drive from Kathmandu to Dhulikhel. The distance between Kathmandu and Dhulikhel is only 30 km. Our trek starts for Namobuddha from Dhulikhel. We will walk through nice village and observe the mountain view of Mt. Langtang Lirung, Gaurisankar, Rollwaling Range, etc. Overnight at Namobuddha.
Day 04: Namobuddha to Blthali Village (1,500m.)
The famous Buddhist monastery offers a good meditation facility. Many people are found meditating here. Today we walk through beautiful villages where Tamangs and Magars are the dominant ethnic groups. After completing about 4 hours of village walk, we reach the Balthali village where we can make our overnight stay either at Balthali Village Resort or camping.
Day 05: Balthali Village to Phulchoki Danda (2,800m.)
The village has mixed communities. Farming is the main occupation of the local people. After having breakfast, we will walk through paddy fields and villages. During the walk, you can learn about the local people’s culture and have spectacular views of mountains, green forests, birds, rural settlements, etc. After finishing the 5-hour mild trek, we will reach the Phulchoki hill and stay overnight at camp
Day 06: Phulchoki Danda to Lele Gaon (1450m.)
Wake up early in the morning to watch birds, and have sunrise and mountains view. You can have a panoramic view of mountain peaks like Lantang Lirung, Gaurisankar, Rollwaling, Annapurna Rage, Tibetan Range, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, etc. After having breakfast, we will descend to Lele Gaon by walking through a dense forest. After walking 5 hours, we will reach Lele Gaon and stay overnight at camp.
Day 07: Lele Gaon to Kathmandu (1,320m.)
Wake up early in the morning to watch birds nearby campsite. After having breakfast, we will drive back to Kathmandu. Within 1 hour’s smooth drive, we will get in Kathmandu.
In the evening, a farewell dinner would be served at the Nepali typical restaurant.
