Naturally, Nepal is a beautiful country in the world. It has been the dreamland of the tourists for a long time. Everest, birth place of Gautam Buddha, etc. have attracted the visitors to visit Nepal. Besides, the pattern of following religion has given Nepal a unique status in the world. Almost all the important religious sects of the world are found in Nepal. Hinduism and Buddhism are the major religions of this country. Many festivals of religious significance are celebrated commonly with equal enthusiasm by both the sects.

The Annapurna Region is regarded as the first destination of Nepal in terms of trekking. An ancient Tibetan trade route cuts across the Annapurna region following the Kali Gandaki River. Pokhara is the starting point of short trek of one to four days, including the "Royal" trek. The popular destination Mustang is also a part of the Annapurna region. However, the treks to Mustang are subject to special restrictions. One has to obtain a special permit from the Ministry of Tourism to trek in this restricted area. Of the total, about two-thirds of the trekkers in Nepal visit the Annapurna region. The region is easily accessible. Trekking to the region offers panoramic views of both high mountains and lowland villages.

Among the major trekking routes of Annapurna region, Pokhara valley trek deserves to be mentioned as one of them. The trek is suitable for the senior citizens, disable people and for those who have limited time to spend in Nepal.
