Upper Manaslu Trek

The Manaslu region is considered as a virgin trekking region. Only few trekkers and climbers have experienced the scenic beauty of this region, which was opened to trekkers recently. The attractive Himalayan region remained restricted for many years.

Visitors could enjoy much in this region because it has a lot of attractions to offer. The region is eye-catching due to the nature’s real wilderness. From cultural point of view, the region is equally important. The unique traditional culture of the Tamang and the Sherpa communities is an important tourist attraction of the region. This is one of the finest combinations of culture and scenic beauty. So, visitors find the whole region as an exciting place.

The trek to the Upper Manaslu region begins from Gorkha Bazaar, which is also culturally very rich and historically important. The trekking trail passes through Larke pass (5420 m.). After going through the Larkya La Pass (5153m), the trail cuts behind the Manaslu massif. The area is regarded as one of the most suitable places for experiencing trekking in the Himalayan wilderness. Trekkers move ahead along the banks of the wild Budhi Gandaki River. The river gorges have separated the Himchuli (7890m) and Ganesh (7429m). With spectacular topography and fascinating culture, the trek to this region gives a memorable experience to trekkers and other adventure lovers. A panoramic view of Mt. Manaslu and many other peaks in the adjoining areas can be seen from Larkya La Pass.

The landscape and culture of most parts of the region are similar to that of Tibet. The inhabitants of the Upper Budhi Gandaki region are Nupris. They are regarded as the descendants of the Tibetan immigrants. The region is highly influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. One can find a lot of Buddhist prayer flags and chortens in the region.
